I promise I like other Arashi members besides Matsujun D; This one was just a quick translation I did last night while I was super bored. You'll forgive me for taking some artistic liberty with this one, some things were surprisingly confusing :x especially that last sentence, it made no sense but I'm sick of staring at it

Matsumoto Jun of Arashi's "My NEW Standard"
We often see Matsumoto Jun of the popular group, Arashi, appearing in the media in in-season fashionable clothes, but this time we had him show off lively tailored jacket styles. But even though he dressed up in the clothes provided him without hesitation, his personal style is first and foremost surprisingly casual.

"The things I liked back in the day I still like even now, so I'm not wasting time looking because I don't have to"
"I basically have a lot of rough, casual clothing."
In the interview following the photoshoot, these words flew from his mouth. Whether on stage, in magazines or on TV, the Matsumoto Jun we see is 'dressed up.'3 Although he's always high class, he had unexpected things to say about his normal clothes.
"My clothes are only those which fit my tastes. Having people look at me is my job, so I have to be aware of my clothing; I've known that since back in the day. Of course I'm always aware of TPO1, but rather than tossing on formal clothes, I would rather wear clothes with a looser, more American-type of feel."
Since the beginning of his life, he's shopped for clothes by himself, and even before entering Johnny's in 6th grade, he wore a red Blaison-style windbreaker*. So this time we dressed up the Matsumoto who buys a lot of clothing but prefers simple- and rough-styled clothing.
"There's this image in the media of me on the street on their private time all dressed up. That doesn't mean I haven't been buying clothes lately -- I have a lot of things I've bought but just haven't worn. With a lot of simple things, it's become a more simple style."
So, that doesn't mean he necessarily has a passion or huge interest in fashion but even now, it looks as though he's checking runway photos in magazines without fail. He gets a sense of fashion trends from phone calls with friends and flipping through fashion magazines. His fashion and self are at odds but he seems to have definitively and maturely captured 'my standard'.3
"I do like fashion, but when I go to shops, I've pretty much already decided to go to the places that 'absolutely will not let me down.' My routine lately has been T-shirts and jeans and if it's winter, then I match it with a knit sweater or something. On my feet I wear sneakers or flip-flops4 and other types of sandals in summer, which I have a lot of. I have a lot of older clothes which I can wear fairly often. The things I liked back in the day I still like now, and so I'm not wasting time searching; I don't really need people giving me anything. I'm still wearing jeans I wore back in high school!"
The super flashy 'top idol'3 Matsumoto Jun in reality seems to have a surprisingly steady type of fashion. While he's familiar with dressing fashionably, he likes only the things he likes and so from that stance, being a fashionable-looking man is something that can only be learned through observation. In order to become fashionable, by associating with fashionable people, those hints will reveal themselves.
* 1. Time Place and Occasion. I had to look it up, too. We both learned something today!
* 2. no idea who/what this is. I like lookin fly as much as the next person, but I've got nothin on who this is and googling in English and Japanese doesn't yield any results :\ At least ones that aren't related to U-Boats.
* 3. in katakana, gets quotes.
* 4. Jun's got his flippy-floppies! Which in Japanese are called b-sandals. The more we know! *star flies by*

Date: 2010-03-23 04:21 am (UTC)i doubt if its from Yamamoto though, unless it's a girls jacket as he always does loose and baggy silhouettes for men. and it's a good thing they had a size for Matsujun, i mean i didn't know YSL got asian sizes available. :)
thanks dear!

Date: 2010-03-23 04:14 am (UTC)I'm actually surprised to hear how chill
JunStyleJun's personal style is. I suppose it makes sense that he wants to be relaxed when "off duty" (as it were). And it always amuses me to know that he still wears stuff from high school, like I doalthough it kind of horrifies me that he can still fit into his jeans from that timerather than tossing on formal clothes, I would rather wear clothes with a looser, more American-type of feel
...and here I am, an American, trying to mix clothes to get a chicer, more Japanese type of feel. XD Reminds me of this thing I read about Japan and America both full of youth who are clamoring to live in each other's country XD
Re: I know that you like my style, I know that you like my style~
Date: 2010-03-23 04:35 am (UTC)Right?! I figured he'd be maybe not more fashion-conscious but a little dressier on his private time, but I'm not really surprised, though. Dude could putz around in old-ass sweats and a t-shirt and still be hell of hot.
I wasn't even sure if that was the way to translate it, but it seemed to make sense that he'd like that more relaxed, hangin out kinda style. But I'm totally the same way, all following Tokyo Fashion and tryna take hints from that and work it into my style to move away from jeans, t-shirt, a hoodie and flip-flops all the time and here he is wearing that all the time XD
Re: I know that you like my style, I know that you like my style~
Date: 2010-03-23 09:41 am (UTC)Dude could putz around in old-ass sweats and a t-shirt and still be hell of hot.
Dude. DUDE.
Somehow he's even able to rock a pink trucker hat long after all but the douchebags (and perhaps actual badass truckers) have abandoned the hat. I am loving the Margiela sunglasses, though - they are perfect for paparazzi pics.
everyone jokes so much about Jun the Princess that I was expecting a total fashionista behind it all nglI totally feel you on the jeans-t-shirt-hoodie-flip-flops thing. Not because of our eerily similar tastes (for once) - I think it's California Girl Syndrome more than anything else. We as a state are such casual people that our personal style sometimes grinds into monotony
if it doesn't veer sharply into Hollister/AbercrombieAndBitchLand, like other girls I know. Or Juicy Couture. SWEET LORD NOT THE JUICY COUTUREI've taken to wearing sequined MC Hammer pants with my fave hoodie, in lieu of sweatpants, just for a change XDDDDDRe: I know that you like my style, I know that you like my style~
Date: 2010-03-23 05:12 pm (UTC)DUDE. SEE, THIS IS WHAT I MEAN. Anybody else wears that out in public and they look like a lazy-ass but he still looks fly and FUCKIN FOINE. I still think he's kind of princess-y, but only in that he's a Virgo, he likes what he likes, and he's gonna keep likin what he likes (seriously, he's almost exactly like my Brother From Another Mother in that respect. Their birthdays are a week apart. Trufax).
Yeah, I def. think it's the Californian in me. Everybody I hung out with back home dressed like that, I dress like that, all the other Californians I know dress like that. It's just so easy to!
and we could look like lazyasses AND JUN WOULD STILL LOOK FABULOUS. SERIOUSLY THAT BOTHERS ME SO BAD. I've started doing the tights and shorts with heels or cute flats thing lately, just to spice it up a little. Sequined Hammer pants, though? guuuuurrrlll.....Re: I know that you like my style, I know that you like my style~
Date: 2010-03-23 06:53 pm (UTC)YEAH GUUUUUUUUURL. They were $5 at H&M WUT WUT lol... the price was not the only reason I got them, but it was definitely the motivator to try out an "it item" that intimidated me before. P.S. Givenchy featured them in the Fall 2010/Winter 2011 collections, but I rock them way more casually; the colour (jet black) makes them a lot more wearable and subtle. You'd be surprised to know that they actually work :D
They're crazy comfy, and I am quite proud of the way I styled it IMO: all black, with a sporty-looking hoodie, leather chucks and doorknocker hoops (and a fedora if you want to get really funky ahahaha)- a little DMC and a little Domyouji lol. I think Jun would approve
even though we now know he wouldn't wear it anywhere away from a studio or stadium XDbahaha sorry to hijack the thread again but yeah, rarely can I discuss
Junfashion with such depth hahaRe: I know that you like my style, I know that you like my style~
Date: 2010-03-23 06:58 pm (UTC)And now that I've come back to life, I have to say that if you can rock em, girl, rock em. Me? I dunno... if I find em somewhere, I might give em a shot. The thought of them is totally intimidating, though, for sure. Even the 80s/early 90s fashion that's back now makes me feel like I fell in a hot tub time machine and woke up in my older sisters' closets XDX

And while he looks super cool whatever he wears(:D),i love simple fashion (jeans+sneakers/b-sandals=♥♥) and i think he has this elegant aura which by wearing simple clothes is even more strong!
If a person has that aura, by wearing simple cloth is just the person who stands out :)!
oh this bring memories XD i remember i was in japan when this mag came out and my friend got home saying "oh btw there's a mag with Jun on it.." me"why didn't you tell me why we were out°_°??" "i thought you had it already..you are buying everything with arashi on it -_-!" and i immediately ran out to buy it XD ♥

Date: 2010-11-08 06:19 am (UTC)As expected from MatsuJun, always keep an eyes on things around him so he knows what is going on even with fashion :)
Not only he pay attendtion to bigger thing, but also the smaller details around him too. That's why he knows what to do and of course when it's come to fashion, he searches and see what people would wear each season ne ^^ Even that he still keep his own style. ^^
