So, I'm not usually one for resolutions, but I've decided this year to try to translate something a little every day. Even if it's for 10 minutes, I'm going to translate. Partially because I feel bad neglecting this journal during the school year, but mostly because, in some respects, I feel my Japanese declining. Also I miss it a lot. So prepare to see more of me. If you don't, and I know you, please yell at me. Let's start the year off right with our most magnanimous of leaders

"Let's enjoy my time as an idol together."

"With each song, I want people to wonder, 'what song will come up next?'! Treasuring each and every song, we want to give those songs back to our fans."

We were deeply involved with the making of this album, so we've constructed the setlist full of songs from it! This is a concert full of songs we made, and we're really emotionally attached to it. We were really particular about each and every song, and I feel like we all want to treasure that outlook ... And by that token, we were particular about the staging, wondering how it would be when we take the stage, I think. It's been about a year and a half since our last tour, so we had a lot of ideas floating around, like "let's do this" or "let's do that," and finally managed to decide on everything (laughs). "This is a good song because you can really convey its charm," and we also felt like, "to convey our own feelings, is there a way we can kick it up a notch?" Part of the fun of putting together concerts is, of course, the pain of bringing it all together, which is something we haven't felt in a while.

On our last tour, we did a 360 degree stage, and so of course we were nervous. It was a weird kind of nervousness, in that "no matter where you turn, there are fans," but it was a "good kind of nervousness." I'm always aware that I'm being watched, so even when I'm performing, I feel like now more than ever I've tightened up. And one more thing that left a deep impression was the panels that fans stuck the "Sexy.Honey.Bunny!" lips stickers on at the venues! We secretly went out to watch everyone. Our fans wrote us a lot of different messages, so being able to directly feel their voices was a lot of fun. "With sick visuals, we'll steadily show off our dancing," was Go's idea for the staging last time. There's probably a strong image out there that "Tonisen are adults, Kamisen are kids," but we've all steadily become adults. With them, that aura of being idols comes out more, so I think our performances have become more atmospheric. With that, we oddly coveted the 360 degree stage, but there were a lot of things we couldn't do so I wondered if it was really the right thing to do. Conversely, it ended up being really good, with a kind of "whatever, just dance!" athleticism. And in that way, we could only kind of run around in circles, and we had to tightly condense the dances we showed off... I felt like, with the use of the 360 degree stage, we were doing things different from what everyone else was doing.

This year, compared with the last tour, our visuals have done a complete 180, so we've gone back to the 180 degree stage. With regard to the songs we're showing off this time, we had a lot of ideas come out, like "I wanna do this" or "I wanna do that," and because of that, we've brought back the idea that the 180 degree stage is best. There's an entirely new set design compared to last time, and we're inspired by a lot of new styles so we've called in new choreographers. Even though they're the same songs, with new choreography, the song and the atmosphere really change. I expect that this year, too, we'll have "a show no one but V6 can show you." With V6's concerts, we hear each time that "your image is different on each tour," but I think we're all of the mind that "we dont' want to do the same things."

We're starting this tour at Yoyogi National Gymnasium and going to 9 different places. Because the venues change, so does the performance each time. We make big and little changes here and there to the set to account for each building's different construction, and each crowd's position is different. For example, when we're done doing a lap of the outer circumference of the arena, at some venues, we can't work the edges, so we have to walk all the way back down ... things like that. Some venues are like that, but what we're most conscious of is our closeness to our fans. It's really important to us how close we can get to our fans. At each and every venue, we feel like we're being given a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with them.

So for that reason... we haven't included solo songs on the setlist this time. On each song each member produced, they have a pretty significant solo part, so we didn't feel it was necessary to have to show off our individual personalities in a solo song all over again. We hammered out how the concert would go amongst ourselves, with each of us having their own view on each song they made. If people wonder "what's coming next?" that would make me happy. To make it interesting, at the end of each song, having them be like, "oh, there it is!" we want people to feel more and more excited, and if we can do that, that would be awesome. At the end, the one thing I want everyone to say is, "Oh! My! Goodness!" (laughs)

Of course, when i think about what we strive for with concerts, it's hard on our bodies, but there's a real reward at the end of each concert. What I mean by that is when the people who come to see us say, "each time is different, but this time was especially fun! It was such a great concert!" When you hear that at the end each time, that's really the greatest reward.

For me, the time when I'm most overjoyed is the opening. When we suddenly appear onstage, the fans let out massive cheers, right? But when you think about the volume of cheers, I think they're loudest at the climax. At that moment, all our troubles and exhaustion just flies away. And for us to have that moment where the fans give us that power, it's good for us to keep doing concerts yearly, so as not to betray that or them.

With "music," it's one thing we've been doing since our debut. This time, with the "music" we've been doing, we each feel like we want to give those songs back to our fans on this album and tour again. Calling it a "message" isn't an exaggeration, but I want to do concerts with that feeling in mind. In that way, we get to keep on doing music thanks to our fans, so we've included "Music Life," which is full of meaning and our gratitutde. The lyrics are packed with our thoughts, so it's a song I want the fans to listen to carefully.

Hearing again the question, "what is a concert to me?" -- since our debut, it's not something I've even come to take for granted, but it's not something I can really sum up in one word... Just... I've taken to doing musicals, right? I said before that "the opening is the best," but even for "live events," like when you act in musicals, it's different from a concert in that you work really hard to get a curtain call at the end. It's totally opposite and I think that's really interesting. When I think about my personal life, when I do plays, I think of myself as "an actor," but maybe, like a concert, when I think of "the time I was able to become an idol," the time most precious is probably times when I was on music shows... As V6, we've done a lot of variety shows, right? (laughs) Our fans have waited for us for a year and a half, so we've worked really hard constructing this concert to make it a really fun concert. This is my precious "time as an idol." Let's enjoy it together at the venue!
