Matsumoto Jun's Random Curiosity
vol.2 New York
Please have a look. These pictures of scenery, and of Matsujun's relaxed smile, and a lot of poses. "I want to see a musical!" kind of curiosity overcame him, and so this time, the place to which Matsujun went was NY. Along with this private shoot, this time is a "randomness" report!
At the beginning of January, I went to New York! I've always wanted to go. And having said that, I've been there 3 times so far. The first time was in 2001 for a variety show with Nihon TV. That time I was able to go to a number of places. Then, the second time was for "Hana Yori Dango (Returns)." That time, I was like, "I wanna see a musical~" but I had no time at all because of filming ...So that wish had yet to come true, and so someday, I wanted to make time for a real trip. So this time, I finally had the timing right, so I boldly up and went. I only had 3 nights and 5 days, but my most earnest wish was to see 5 musicals. The first day, I saw "Billy Elliot," and then I saw "Jersey Boys" on the second day. On the third day, I first watched "Fela!" and then "Mary Poppins." Then, that night, it was "Rock of Ages." They were all really interesting. The one I wanted to see most was "Billy Elliot," and it was super, SUPER neat! It was really good, especially the music. I always wanted to see "Mary Poppins." I told my friend, "I'm doing that kind of direction that they do in 'Mary Poppins,'"1, but cos he didn't hear me, I didn't do that "MJ Walk." I had it in me to do it, so I was like, I'll go watch it for real, so I only went to watch it, but my image of it was totally the same. They did the flying ... I wanna include that system in our shows. It really surprised me. I couldn't see if it was the same type of apparatuses, but we definitely made it, I think. Not only the staff that made it, but me, too, are awesome, I think (laughs).
After that ... At long last, I was finally able to go to NY, and now I could finally go sightseeing, too (laughs). I walked around Central Park. The Tim Burton exhibit they had at the MoMA was great! I was in plain clothes. I had a grey jacket that I'd been wearing from the outset. But it wasn't really... manly, so I switched out to inner pants, shoes and t-shirts. But then I was really cold, so ... i went over to the department store and coordinated my clothes to look like a local (laughs). That's sorta NY-like, right?
Maaaaan~, it was so much fun. Looking at my pictures, it looks like I was having a hella fun time, ... I think (laughs). Thinking about it again, it's a really great city. Even on my Johnnys Web, I was all, "wouldn't it be nice if you got the chance to see the pictures I took?" So in this bulletin, it's great that I got to publish this report and show my pictures again!

01 / Morning in Times Square. Wearing a coat I bought there. 02 / The symbol of NY, the Empire State Building. 03 / In NY's hot spot "HIGH LINE" with the beautiful sunset in the background. 04 / "I FEEL SO GOOD!" rapid-fire relaxed photoshoot we did in Central Park. 05 / In the middle of NY's theatre district in front of the theatre for "Rock of Ages." 06 & 09 / In Central Park, the John Lennon monument, "Strawberry Fields." I felt really moved looking at the Dakota 2. 07 / Morning routine, Times Square in the background of Central Park. In the restaurant in the Renaissance Times Square Hotel. 08 / Arriving in NY!
*1. He's prolly talking about the MJ walk he did during "Yabai Yabai Yabai" at the "Time" concert and all the flying Arashi do in their concerts of late.
* 2. Where John Lennon was living when he was assassinated, kids.
