Victory Pose1
vol. 54
Hello.
Sakurai here.
Yesterday was our interview about our inaguration as the faces of Japan's sightseeing campaign. We were filming a PV.
From early morning, Aiba-kun was practicing earnestly his speech in Chinese.
He kept grumbling as he was lying on his back practicing it.
"Jing jiang rou si"2
"hui guo ro"2
and randomly interrupting me and meddling with the staff and stuff, while practicing with all his might.
Nino:
"Continuing on, we'll now hear Aiba's greetings."
Aiba:
"Yes! And now, I'd like to give my greetings in Chinese!"
That kind of simulation.
At the end of our greetings
"Xiang hui ba! (Let's meet!)"
and assuming this kind of victory pose while he said it.
"I'll do my best!"
Not like that kind of thing, but he's always doing this victory pose.
Seems like he's always doing that.
The next day:
Now it's time to meet with a reporter.
Aiba:
"Xiang hui ba! (Let's meet!)"
while doing the victory pose.
With such vigour...
Reporter:
"Whom in Arashi would be most able to show foreigners around?"
Sakurai:
"I think it's Aiba. With his body language, it seems like he'd get on well with them."
Aiba:
"Xiang hui ba! (Let's meet!)" <- victory pose
He kept doing that even when we did a group picture
Cameraman:
"Everyone! That... um... Aiba-kun"
Aiba:
"'Xiang hui ba!'?"
Cameraman:
"Yeah, yeah! If you would!"
Man...
It turns out that victory pose = jian hui ba!
Me, on the other hand
My speech in English went off without a hitch, but in the beginning
Sakurai:
"Official license... This recommendation...3 I'm happy to be able to serve as spokespeople for Japan tourism."
I screwed it up!!
The most important thing I had to say, and I screwed it up!!
I even surprised myself.
(Man, you screwed it up)
It was like that.
Please continue to support Arashi for a long time m(__)m

Sakurai Sho
1. literally, "guts pose" :3 that's adorable to me for some reason
2.don't ask me to translate the chinese, it is way too damn early and I haven't studied it for like, 4 months. plus, everything is written in katakana so i can hardly figure out what it's supposed to be/if my romanization is even right to begin with without the hanzi :X
3. this is obviously him misspeaking. He meant to say "kankoku," which is either "Korea" or "recommendation" and instead said "kankyo," which means "official license/permit."
