My poor brain needs a break from ... pretty much everything, so have a translation of a song that's been in my head for no less than a week. I have no idea if it's been translated before (I can't imagine it hasn't), but here's my version, anyway.
. kanji .

. translation .
You want to know me better
And believe in our love
I want us to live together
When we're able
Other people make you jealous
And you start to doubt me
But you’re the only one who knows the real me
Absence makes
The heart grow fonder
When I close my eyes, all I see is you
We’ve already decided to cross the boundary between friendship and love
And it’s fine if we cry
Say hello to sorrow1
You cry and
Other people see you, you know
It would be nice if we had
An apartment together, but…
We’ll be kind to each other
More and more
But long days just put me to sleep
Absence makes
The heart grow fonder
When I close my eyes, all I see is you
We’ve already decided to cross the boundary between friendship and love
And it’s fine if we cry
Say hello to sorrow
Say hello to sorrow
Say hello to sorrow
. notes .
1. “yoroshiku” is one of those phrases easily understood but not easily translated. this is the closest I felt I could get to the meaning while keeping it moderately lyrical. a more literal reading would be “nice to meet you/treat us well, sorrow.”
