So this is where I'm also gonna store my random ramblings and musings.
CLAIM: Terra START - END: 09.26.06 - COMPLETED: 018/030 LAST UPDATED: 03.20.07 |
01. love (evil!terra) |
Love clouds the mind and poisons the soul. Love feigns humility, but it is arrogant, leading all its followers to ruin. I have seen love. I have seen the love of parents, and watched as love crushed them. I have seen the love of friends, and watched it blind them to reality – harsh, stark reality, the kind that leaves your mouth tasting of blood, your lungs without air, and your soul devoid of sensibility. I've felt the love of a master, the kind of love that causes metamorphosis of the mind, transmutation of the body, and secession of the soul. |
02. hate (traveler!terra) |
Her blonde hair whipped around her face as she spun, momentarily blinding her behind a sea of yellow. Her face turned a whiter shade of pale as she backed into a corner, one hand over the gash on her arm. Dark blue eyes, once yellow like the sun, now glowed only with fear. They were closing in. No escape, no one to help her, nowhere to run. No way out, no way out, no way out. Eyes shot this way, that way, over a sea of faces, each one as spiteful and hateful as the next. The ground shook again. |
03. rose (titan!terra) |
"Raven, what's a six letter word for 'skin rash'?” "Eczema.” "…How do you spell that?” "E-c-z-e-m-a.” "Mm,” she nodded, scribbling the letters in the blank squares of the Jump City Citizen's daily crossword puzzle. The only sounds to be heard were the turning of pages and the occasional scribble from Terra's pencil. Raven's room had become a regular hangout when Terra wanted some quiet. "Raven, what's a five-letter word for 'heathen'?” "Pagan.” "Mmhm. And a four letter word for a red flower?” "Rose.” "And a five letter word for – " "I'm not going to do the crossword for you, Terra!” |
05. blue (evil!terra) |
My time has come. I've never felt so empowered. My eyes reflect their brightest blue as I stare back at myself in the mirror. All those years of insecurity, of weakness, of being afraid of myself, gone. It's my power to control now, it doesn't control me. My hands look so full of strength as I put on my gloves. I have the power, and I have the will. I can do everything I ever wanted, and right now, all I want is to pay a visit to some old friends. I've got some things I'd like to show them. |
06. emotion (titan!terra) |
Starfire positively squealed. "I am so excited! Oh! We shall have so much fun doing the hanging out today!” I haven't been to many malls, to be quite honest. I usually just avoided large groups of people. But Star's been practically begging the last few days – "OH! We must go get some of the Jamba juice! Their smoothies of fruit are wonderful!” I think Starfire is the most emotional person I've ever met. Whatever she feels, she feels with all her heart. She gets excited, and you can't help feeling the same. You just can't be sad when she's around. |
07. cold (things change!terra) |
She splashes her face with cold water and watches the beads run slowly down her face. Uncertain eyes stare back through the looking glass, stealing glances at the girls standing at the other sinks or waiting in line. She recognizes their stares of impatience, but can’t find the motivation to pick up her things and go home. “Deep breaths, come on, it’s okay.” Her eyes focus on the face of a friend, whose hand now rested comfortingly on the girl’s back. “I’m sure you did well on the geometry test.” Even though geometry was the furthest thing from her mind. |
08. sleep (traveler!terra) |
It wasn't much, but it was home. That dark little cave had seemed so ominous when she stumbled upon it. Wandering inside, she fumbled her flashlight, spraining her ankle on a rock. Sitting now in her refuge, it almost seemed like the cave wanted to force her to stay there, and so caused her to injure herself. "No, that's silly," echoed back her voice. She clumsily injured herself all the time, what made now so different? Still, she thought... Turning her pack into a makeshift pillow, she spread herself out to sleep on her tattered sleeping bag. "Good night, cave.” |
10. picture (titan!terra) |
Pulling her legs under her, she bounced on the couch, tossing her blonde hair away from her face as she repositioned herself. "Truth or dare?" A mischievous smirk crept across Beast Boy's face. The changeling, eager to impress his new friend, responded, "Dare." Looking as though she'd had it planned from the beginning, an equally mischievous smirk crossed Terra's face. "Dare you to go take Robin's mask off and bring it back for me. Oh, and get a picture of his eyes." The last voice she wanted to hear responded before the shocked Beast Boy could. "That's quite the dare." |
14. sky (titan!terra) |
“Well, goodnight, Terra!” The door closes itself as she turns to walk to bed, unabashedly shedding articles of clothing across the floor. Letting out a small sigh of exhaustion, she collapses onto the bed with barely the energy to turn over onto her back. Fighting the Slade-bots and the ensuing celebration really took it out of her. Momentarily she expects to see the sprawling sky laid out before her, and almost panics at the sight of the walls and a roof. They were so nice to paint her walls with a desert and stars, but it just wasn’t the same. |
16. stars (titan!terra) |
"Isn't it beautiful?” The changeling and the blonde seemed utterly and totally insignificant compared to the stars. "Mm.” Their forms were tangled up in one another, almost inseparable from far away. No blankets, no coats were needed. All the warmth they wanted or required on an October night, they found in one another. His head resting against hers, he watched the stars pass by as reflected in the two puddles – no, not puddles, the two oceans she called eyes. He watched their lids droop, slowly, slowly, and kissed her forehead as that familiar strand of hair fell across her face. |
17. dead (evil!terra) |
The echo of my boots is the only sign that life still exists here. A stray piece of paper will blow through occasionally. An office memo, a stray homework assignment, a grocery list. People used to flood these streets, but you'd never know it now. The sky has been grey for days. It's like once the people left, so too did all the colour and emotion. The Slade-Bots are the only spots of colour left here; Slade and I, the only signs of life, though sometimes, I wonder if either of us are really alive, or just the walking dead. |
18. alive (things change!terra) |
I used to be a wanderer. The sun as my guide, the moon as my companion, I would travel the country. There are times now when I think the only time I feel alive is when I'm up there, on top of a rock, floating above the ground, or walking backwards through a canyon. Just me, the Earth, and the sky. My life now is full of hallways and slamming doors. Skyscrapers replaced my rocks, concrete my rugged terrain. Sometimes I think I'd like to run away again, and reunite with my lost companions. I'd like to feel alive again. |
20. forever (things change!terra ; based on this shot ; theme is in Japanese -- "eien.") |
"if you haven't changed your mind…” The words floated in her brain as her reflection stared back at her, straight-faced, trying desperately not to fall apart. She stared past herself, seeing that night flash before her eyes. "tell me why, oshiete yo. zutto eien ni…” Momentarily, she saw in her reflection the girl she was, years ago. Outside she had grown, but inside, that fear lingered. And the glint of hope in the eyes of the boy – no, not a boy, a man – standing behind her still cut through her, throwing all of her emotions into that old familiar windstorm. |
21. fight (traveler!terra) |
I’ve always loved sitting on cliffs. From the side, I can see everything in front of me, every change that comes over the horizon. Sometimes I wish life were like this, with every choice I have right there in front of me. I could see everything; no more bad decisions, no more messing up. I can feel the rocks start to give way, beckoning me to the canyon below, and I don’t so much as blink to stop them. It’s easier to just give in, don’t fight it. Breathe in; breathe out; in, out. Take me down, falling, falling forever. |
25. snow (things change!terra) |
Tickatickatickatickaticka. Shaking her pencil back and forth between her first two fingers, Terra leaned her head against the back wall, the words of the teacher barely registering in her brain. Time always seemed to stand still in here, no matter how fast the rest of the day had gone. The gentle November snow had just begun to fall, the flakes coming down in almost hypnotic waves. From the third floor window, she watched the citizens of Jump City pulling their scarves tighter, hurrying their pace as they moved through the city. A passing green streak snapped her back to reality. |
26. mortality (things change!terra) |
The feeling lingers, even now. Inescapable, it follows me wherever I go, lurking just beyond the shadow of my vision. If I try hard enough, I might be able to spot it, if only for a moment. No one else sees this shady shadow, this feeling that follows me. They cannot feel its icy fingertips on the end of my thoughts. It is wholly unexplainable to those who have never felt it, and indescribable to those who have. You don't realize what life and death are until you actually experience them. Nobody can comprehend this feeling that follows me – mortality. |
27. precious (little!terra) |
The dress felt so uncomfortable. The shoes were too tight. Her hair hurt. "But honey! You're absolutely precious!” She hated that word, "precious.” "You know you need to look your best today.” Why? She was just going to get dirty anyway. She never could stay clean, even when she wasn't playing in the dirt. "All the other kids are going to be dressed like you, you might as well accept it. You can come home and play later.” But I want to play now! "You'll have fun, I promise, sweetie.” She paused, adding, "you'd better not get this dress dirty!” | 28. refuge (titan!terra) |
Feet dangling over the edge, arms behind at a forty-five degree angle, head cocked back and slightly to the side, the little blonde girl took in the May sun. The top of the tower was a nice refuge from everyone else, even when Raven was up there meditating. "It's so nice today,” she said, stretching her arms out and flopping onto the ground. One purple eye opened itself to look at the girl lazing about next to her. Terra's head turned slightly, wondering if Raven was going to rail on her for being disturbed. Instead, she heard, "Yeah, it is.” |
