The way Nagano phrased some things was really frustrating and I want to box his ears. This might be my worst translation ever, said the eternal and insufferable perfectionist.
It's been a long time since we've done a 360 degree stage, and I want to make this a tour you can enjoy from any seat.
"You're performing in 8 places this time, and you're also performing at Yokohama Arena for the first time in almost 10 years."
I really feel like, wow, it's been 10 years since the last time we were there! It's always been a venue we want to perform at more, and there's definitely a feeling of nostalgia in the air.
"What's the subject of this year's tour?"
There's a sexy feeling, and some cool parts... we wanted to go with that kind of feeling, so that's what we suggested. Beyond that, because we're doing the 360 degree stage for the first time in a long time, it's going to be really different from a lot of our recent tours.
"What sorts of things are unique about the 360 degree stage?"
First off, it's different from how it appears. When you come in, you'll probably be like, "oh, this is how it's going to be this time." We were conscious that there's always people in the back and wanted to make this a show you can enjoy from any seat, and I think this is a way to show that.
"What did you bring to the table?"
I suggested that we bring back the cranes. I figured it would be good if we included them, given the structure and composition.
"What about the organization of the songs?"
Among our new songs, there are still some perfectly good songs we haven't done on stage before. Now, we tend to do 4 songs per single, right? Songs that seem to end up in commercials. There's also a song we've only had for download. So we talked about it like, let's do those songs!
"Are you going to the solos you didn't do on your last two tours?"
We are going to do each and every solo song off our album, "READY?" I have a song called "Sakura Iro, Sakura Kaze." The tour is during a totally different season, so the feeling of the season is kind of off (laughs), but I would like people to enjoy hearing our singing voices.
"You've done a tour basically every year since you've debuted. What's the reason for that?"
Of course, even for us, when we do a tour, we put a lot of our strength into it. Meeting everyone, we become one. On stage at a concert, it's a place where we can feel everyone -- the people who come with us on tour, and the people who come to see us. Going on tour makes us happy. So it's something I want to keep doing.
"Can you feel how much you've changed and grown, since you've been doing tours for 16 years?"
It's like that every year. Even if I make an impression or do something, I digitize it and then clear it every year, so I'm also adding to the list of things I've done. Also, the fans are different every time, too. Even how I do things or put myself out there is different. So each time I'm doing it, I'm looking for solutions.
"In this sense, 'this year's tour is what we can do now.'"
That's right. Each year we're adding to "what we can do this year," and if this was ten years ago it would have been unreasonable, but if it's the current six of us there are things we can do. So what exactly you mean when you say "this is what the current six of us can do" is difficult. Or it was a feeling in the air... What we had to make take shape was "this year's concert."
"For the pamphlet shoot, the six of you went to Las Vegas, where you haven't been in quite a while. What was that like?"
That's right. I saw I dont know how many plays there. I went by myself, and then the six of us also went to some.
"Were you also able to walk around and eat?"
I looked up places on my own, and went out to eat some steak. It was really delicious. I looked up other places to go, but because we didn't have time, I unfortunately wasn't able to go (laughs).
"What do you see as the appeal of this year's concert?"
If we model it on having dancing and a lot of acrobatics, then conversely there are a lot of different things that even if we trim the dancing and acrobatics, you still have things to watch. We have a lot of different faces and we have a wide range... and I would be happy if everyone would also think that way. No matter what style, as long as we're V6, we want you to have fun! and that's the kind of concert toward which I always want to strive.
